Home Care in Tallahassee FL
Music’s the medicine of the mind~ John A. Long
Music Therapy Department Manager at Big Bend Hospice, Susan Droessler, MT-BC recently gave the Tallahassee Coalition on Aging a Music Therapy talk followed by a presentation on the therapeutic effects and the evidence based benefits of Music Therapy. Susan pointed out that research shows board certified music therapists (with the MT-BC credential) can provide music based interventions that can achieve therapeutic goals such as pain relief, distraction, spiritual comfort, self-expression and assist with coping. Lisa Brown, RN at Hopewell In-Home Senior Care stated, “As an RN, I’ve seen Music Therapy performed in a patient’s home and I believe that it can be one of the most uplifting and comforting therapies available to patients.” Music Therapy is offered to all Big Bend Hospice (BBH) patients throughout BBH’s 8 county service area.”
